According to VnExpress, Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade supports a ban on e-cigarettes.
After the Ministry of Health formally released a report emphasizing the negative effects of e-cigarettes, it asked the government to stop reviewing its proposed bill on regulating e-cigarettes.
On June 5, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien told lawmakers: “The Ministry of Industry and Trade supports amending the law to ban e-cigarettes, because the Ministry of Health has confirmed that e-cigarettes are harmful.”
No company in Vietnam has yet been granted a license to trade e-cigarettes.
Official data shows that the rate of e-cigarette use among Vietnamese aged 13-15 rose from 3.5% in 2022 to 8% in 2023.
