New bill in Poland targets the sales end to stop minors from obtaining or 'giving' vaping products t
On Saturday, the corresponding amendments to Poland’s Code of Administrative Offences were passed with 96 votes in favor and 1 abstention. Linas Slu?nys, a member of the legislative committee, said: “Until now, e-cigarettes and their devices could be sold by anyone, and we had no way to stop it, especially when children were sharing them with one another. The rules on e-cigarette sales will finally be standardized through this bill. Just like traditional tobacco products, children will no longer be allowed to sell them.”
He also said that such illegal behavior is strongly discouraged for adults as well. While changing certain entrenched habits is not easy, as a country we are clear about what we do not accept. Under these amendments, purchasing, transferring, or otherwise selling tobacco products or related products, including e-cigarettes, to minors, or selling them at points of sale or catering venues, will be subject to fines of 220 to 320 euros. Repeat violations will result in fines of 320 to 580 euros.
Under the current Code of Administrative Offences, fines presently range from 30 to 280 euros.
In addition, a new provision has been added to the Code of Administrative Offences stating that liability for selling e-cigarettes, e-cigarette pods, or carrying out other sales activities outside points of sale and catering venues will result in fines of 220 to 580 euros. For all violations, confiscation of the tobacco products or related products will be mandatory.
