Police Crack Down on Illegal Activity in North Ayrshire: Sales of Vaping Devices to Minors
Police in North Ayrshire say they are continuing to crack down on the illegal sale of vaping products, including sales to young people under the age of 18.
Police have been working with North Ayrshire Trading Standards to identify illegal vaping devices, which can often be impossible to distinguish from genuine products without the proper regulatory knowledge.
A police spokesperson said: “Children are naturally drawn to taking risks. While that can be a good thing, it can also lead them to try illegal products such as vaping devices.
“In some cases, young people use these products to help themselves cope with anxiety or stress.
“If you discover that your child is using vaping devices, understanding why can be very helpful — it can help you support them.
“Vaping devices contain nicotine, which can quickly become harmfully addictive for young people.
“Nicotine withdrawal can disrupt sleep, cause headaches, and affect mental health.
“Help is available. Consider making an appointment with your GP, who can offer advice and support without judging you or your child.”
