Romania to expand public smoking bans to protect children from secondhand smoke
Romania plans to strengthen smoking regulations, affecting five million smokers. The new regulations will expand smoke-free areas, focusing on protecting children from the harms of secondhand smoke. The former Romanian Minister of Family Affairs has called for support for this initiative.
According to recent news from Dailybusiness, the regulations in Romania may become stricter for smokers, impacting the five million smokers in the country.
Romanian legislation currently prohibits smoking in certain places, such as public transport or children's playgrounds. New regulations may soon be introduced to ban smoking in parks, sports fields, or places where people wait for public transport, which often have a large number of children, aiming to protect them.
Information from former Romanian Minister Gabriela Firea clearly states her support for expanding smoke-free areas to protect children.
Firea noted in a Facebook post that smoke is extremely harmful, and children should not be exposed to it.
She also mentioned measures taken by other countries, such as France and Ireland, which have strict regulations for smokers. In these countries, smoking is prohibited even in one's own car if children are present.
Firea stated that while these measures may seem harsh, we must make this effort for the health of our children.
