Greater Manchester Police Seize £95,000 Worth of Illegal E-Cigarettes
According to the Greater Manchester Police website on September 25, police carried out two operations targeting illegal e-cigarettes, seizing more than £95,000 worth of illicit e-cigarettes.
According to a September 25 update on the Greater Manchester Police website, on September 21, 2023, Greater Manchester Police worked with Trading Standards to inspect three premises in Stockport, seizing £80,000 worth of illegal e-cigarettes. Earlier, acting on intelligence received from the local community and working with Trading Standards officers, police seized 942 e-cigarettes from a convenience store on September 14, 2023, worth around £16,500. The two seizures totaled £95,000 (about RMB 850,000).
These illegal e-cigarettes were seized because the liquid volume inside exceeded the legal limit, and some packaging also displayed incorrect health warnings.
In the UK, the legal limit for nicotine in disposable e-cigarettes is no more than 2% (20 mg), and the capacity must not exceed 2 ml (about 600 puffs).
