New Jersey, U.S.: Considering Ban on E-Cigarette Sales Around Schools
The Lawrence Health Advisory Committee in New Jersey, USA recently held a meeting to discuss the issue of stores near schools selling e-cigarette products.
According to a Patch report on September 25, due to concerns about the impact of e-cigarettes on the health of young people and older adults, many states and municipalities in the United States have restricted the use of e-cigarettes and e-cigarette products. The Lawrence Health Advisory Committee in New Jersey recently held a meeting to discuss the issue of stores near schools selling e-cigarette products.
According to council member Catherin MacDuff, the committee is considering introducing an ordinance to prohibit e-cigarette stores from operating around schools. The proposal will be sent to the mayor and council for advice and comments. If the ordinance is introduced and passed, Lawrence would join a growing number of towns across the country taking such precautionary measures.
As of March this year, all 50 U.S. states had banned the sale of e-cigarettes to minors. Many states have also implemented flavor bans on e-cigarettes and e-cigarette products to help eliminate the appeal of flavored products to young people.
