New Zealand Has More Than 1,300 Specialized Vaping Retailers
According to Global Intelligence, New Zealand’s vaping market is remarkably active. Recent data shows that New Zealand has more than 1,300 specialized vaping retailers, while thousands of convenience stores, gas stations, and grocery stores also sell various vaping products. However, the leader of New Zealand’s Labour Party has announced a campaign promise to limit the number of vaping shops to 600.

▲ Comment: From the channel side, the market is still very lively. At present, New Zealand’s vaping regulation is relatively lenient, but there are also many measures in place. For example, beginning on September 21 this year, all vaping devices sold in New Zealand must be equipped with removable batteries; vaping products must be kept as far away as possible from children and young people, and any new specialized vaping store will be prohibited from opening within 300 meters of a school. At the same time, the new regulations impose special requirements on flavor names for vaping products and require child-safety mechanisms. Flavor names such as cotton candy, strawberry jelly, and doughnut will be banned, and only generic names that accurately describe the flavor, such as orange or berry, may be used. The new rules also lower the maximum nicotine concentration allowed in vaping products. For disposable products, the maximum nicotine concentration has been reduced to 20mg/mL. For reusable products, the maximum nicotine concentration is set at 28.5mg/mL.
