Hong Kong: On the Verge of Becoming Another Frightening Thailand?

After Thailand’s harsh crackdown on vaping, concerns are growing that Hong Kong may follow a similarly strict path. A recent case involving a young man carrying multiple vaping products has fueled fears.

We know that on December 10, 2017, Thai Internet celebrity Fluke was arrested when he was found to have e-cigarettes in his car, and it was a set of e-cigarettes. Thailand has since become a hell on earth for e-cigarette enthusiasts! Now, Hong Kong is also becoming the terrible Thailand before!

A 26-year-old man in Hong Kong was fined 5000 Hong Kong dollars and had to pay more than 10,000 yuan in a West Kowloon court on Monday after being arrested by police for carrying several types and boxes of e-cigarettes, Hong Kong Wen Wei Po reportedHong Kong dollarsLaboratory fees.

This incident is known as the first conviction in Hong Kong since the new policy address announced a complete ban on e-cigarettes!

According to reports, the defendant's surname was Xu and was allegedly an electronic smoker. The case stated that the defendant claimed that he was asked by a friend to go to a shop selling e-cigarettes in Mong Kok to take several types and boxes of e-cigarettes and intended to deliver them to another person. During this period, he was stopped and inspected by the police.

On the morning of October 10, Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, delivered her 2018 policy address, saying that she would completely ban the sale of e-cigarettes. However, that was only a proposal and legislation had not been passed yet!

What's more, in proposing a comprehensive ban on e-cigarettes, it only mentions including prohibiting the import, manufacture, sale, distribution and promotion of e-cigarettes and other new smoking products, and does not respond to the question of whether it will be illegal for citizens to bring them into the country or for their own use.

First, legislation was not passed and it did not say that it could not be carried. Moreover, it was just that tobacco oil contained trace amounts of nicotine and was safe. It was not carried alone. The West Kowloon Court of Hong Kong convicted the three counts of selling unregistered pharmaceutical products, illegally selling and possessing Part I poison!

Hong Kong is famous for its rule of law society. The rule of law is also called one of the core values of Hong Kong society. But what kind of society is this practice now?

After Thailand severely cracked down on e-cigarettes, it finally realized that this anti-trend approach had a huge negative impact. In October this year, according to Thailand's China.com, Thailand began to consider legalizing the import of e-cigarettes, lifting the ban on e-cigarettes, and replacing the ban with paying taxes.

The Hong Kong government does not reflect on Thailand's practices, but instead follows in the footsteps of Thailand's previous erroneous practices!

Where has Hong Kong, which used to view the development of emerging things with an open, inclusive and rational attitude, gone now?!
