Philip Morris International will invest about $320 million to build a smokeless products factory in Dresden, Germany, producing HEETS tobacco sticks for IQOS. Full operations were planned for early 2019.

IQOS heated tobacco is promoted as a cleaner alternative to smoking, with less odor and no ash. Many users are drawn to Marlboro tobacco sticks as a more convenient option than traditional cigarettes.

IQOS is popular, but many first-time buyers still do not fully understand it. As a heated tobacco product, it offers cigarette-like flavor without combustion, along with both benefits and drawbacks.
As traditional tobacco loses share, new tobacco categories are growing fast. By 2030, cigarettes may account for under 90% of the market, with smokeless products like vaping devices and heated tobacco taking the rest.
