TV Conference on Strengthening Tobacco Monopoly Market Supervision
China’s tobacco regulator held a national conference calling for stronger market supervision and special enforcement targeting heated tobacco products such as IQOS.
On May 11, the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration held a televised conference on strengthening tobacco monopoly market supervision, stating that it would “strengthen market supervision over heated tobacco products and carry out a nationwide special rectification and cleanup campaign.” As the name suggests, “heated tobacco products” refers to e-cigarette-type products related to tobacco.
It is understood that IQOS products covered by this investigation have already been seized in Guangxi. Anyone wishing to sell them must obtain a tobacco sales license.
