Belgium’s Federal Public Service for Health seized more than 140,000 illegal disposable vapes in 2025, after the country implemented a nationwide ban on disposable vape sales on January 1. Authorities said the seizures show that a “large quantity” of non-compliant products is still circulating on the market.

Inspectors carried out nearly 2,400 checks at shops, gas stations, supermarkets, and online retailers, seizing illegal vaping devices in 680 cases. Nearly 600 formal reports have now been filed, and 18 stores have been temporarily closed. Brussels recorded the highest violation rate, with illegal sales found in nearly 60% of inspections; in Flanders, about one in five inspected shops was in violation. Fines for selling disposable vapes can reach as high as €120,000, though they typically range between €800 and €1,000.
