Too little, too late? California AG Bonta targets two retailers under vaping age-verification law
California Attorney General Robert Bonta has filed a lawsuit against two e-cigarette online retailers, accusing these California companies of violating state and federal tobacco sales laws as well as California's unfair competition law, partly due to their failure to properly verify consumers' ages before selling tobacco products and selling tobacco products through remote transactions.
The allegations against Ejuicesteals and its CEO, as well as E-Juice Vapor, Inc. and its affiliated entities and individuals, include violations of multiple California tobacco sales laws, failure to comply with age verification requirements, and various shipping and delivery requirements.
A recent research report has pointed out that California's e-cigarette ban is essentially ineffective: young people can still purchase e-cigarettes through online shopping.
