Westport Tobacco and Vape Shop Raided by Police: Large Quantity of Illegal Goods Seized
The Savvy Smoker tobacco and vape shop in Westport, Connecticut, was raided by police this week due to multiple complaints from the community regarding the sale of illegal substances, according to authorities.
According to an investigation by Westport police detectives, it was confirmed that the shop was indeed selling certain items illegally, Officer Jillian Cavanaugh stated.
"The store did not hold a license from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) for a cannabis pharmacy, mixed retailer, retailer, or delivery service," Cavanaugh said in a statement.
Items seized by police included:
- Hundreds of pre-rolled cannabis joints and vape pods
- Concentrate resin containers
- Synthetic cannabinoids
- Dozens of packs of THC fruit gummies
- Cannabis
- Packaging materials
"Many products contained THC levels exceeding the legal limits for cannabis products or were not packaged in child-safe or tamper-proof packaging," Cavanaugh said.
In addition to the Westport police, agents from the Connecticut DCP's Drug Control Division also participated in the search and seizure operation.
"The store remains open as it sells many legal tobacco and other products," Cavanaugh told Patch. "All illegal items have been confiscated."
No arrests have been made yet, but the investigation is ongoing.
