Recent controversy surrounding nicotine pouches and Swedish snus has sparked widespread discussion. Although they look similar, they are actually classified differently. Nicotine pouches are considered a tobacco-free next-generation product and are regarded as useful for smoking cessation.

According to a report by Nezavisne, the use of nicotine pouches (nikotinske vre?ice) and Swedish snus has triggered public debate. While the two products appear similar, they differ in category and composition.

The main reason these two products have been widely discussed recently is that some people have started using Swedish snus, an oral tobacco pouch that is banned across the European Union. This has led to criticism of nicotine pouches, even though nicotine pouches are clearly a next-generation product.

These nicotine pouches do not contain tobacco and are regarded as lower-risk products compared with traditional cigarettes. This type of next-generation non-combustible product plays an important role in combating smoking and is seen as a tool that can help reduce smoking or even help people quit completely.

According to findings from the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (National Academy of Sciences), as well as independent research by the UK Department of Health and Social Care, e-cigarettes may reduce harm by as much as 95% compared with traditional tobacco products.

At the same time, the UK National Health Institute (National Health Institute) also published nine myths and facts about e-cigarettes, one of which is that nicotine is not an extremely carcinogenic substance. In fact, nicotine itself does not directly cause cancer, lung disease, heart disease, or stroke. Nicotine causes smoking addiction, but the real health damage comes from the many other toxic chemicals found in tobacco smoke.

In addition, new non-combustible products such as e-cigarettes, heated tobacco products, and nicotine pouches have been shown to be more effective for smoking cessation, while posing far less harm than traditional tobacco products.

Research findings published by the globally respected Cochrane organization also confirm that, compared with nicotine replacement therapies such as nicotine patches, next-generation products are more effective for helping people quit smoking.
