Arizona Vape Shop Employee Shoots at Thief, Bullet Even Reaches Walmart Across the Street

Key point: A vape shop employee in Arizona opened fire on a thief.

Police arrested a man at a Walmart parking lot across the street after a couple was startled when they heard several gunshots in the parking lot in Arizona.

Burrhead City police said the couple, who are in their 60s, called police Monday night to report that a bullet had gone through the front windshield and rear window of their camper. They were not injured.

"Officers on the scene determined the shots came from across the street," police said. "An electronic cigarette store was open and officers spoke with employee Joshua Anthony Rodriguez, 26, to see if he saw anything." Apparently, he did see it. He was eventually arrested.

Police say he told them, "A man walked into the store and stole several items. Rodriguez then followed him outside and fired about five shots at the fleeing suspect, who was driving away in a red Ford Mustang. The unknown shoplifter was not armed and reportedly made no threats."
Rodriguez was charged with disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal damage.
