Disposable vapes can retain high battery capacity even after use
Although disposable electronic cigarettes lithium-ion batteries are discarded after a single use, researchers have found that these batteries can continue to operate at high capacity for hundreds of cycles.
This study, published in the journal Joule, was conducted by scientists from University College London (UCL) and the University of Oxford, with support from the Faraday Institution.
Professor Paul Shearing from Oxford University stated according to media reports: "What surprised us was the results showing how long these batteries could cycle. If you use a low charge-discharge rate, you can see that after over 700 cycles, the battery still retains over 90% capacity."
"This is quite a good battery. And these batteries are just discarded. They are thrown on the roadside."
