Police Raid Gift Shops in Bengaluru, India, Seize Some vaping devices and Arrest 5
The police in Bengaluru, India, seized e-cigarettes worth 260,000 rupees and arrested five people while shutting down two gift shops. The police are conducting further investigations and enhancing vigilance against drugs and prohibited items that may be sold during New Year celebrations.
According to a report from The Hindu on December 13, the police in Bengaluru and Kottanur raided two gift shops, seizing e-cigarette goods valued at 2.6 million rupees. The police also arrested the operators of these two gift shops and those selling prohibited products to customers in the city and surrounding areas, totaling five individuals.
After obtaining specific information, the police conducted the searches, seizing e-cigarettes and other foreign brand cigarettes. The accused have been charged under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), and the police are further investigating to determine the sources and networks of the accused.
The police have heightened vigilance throughout the city, closely monitoring potential sales of drugs and other prohibited items during the upcoming New Year celebrations.
