JTI Bulgaria Launches Campaign Promoting Proper Cigarette Butt Disposal to Protect the Environment
JTI Bulgaria advocates for proper disposal of cigarette butts, EU study shows 3 out of 10 are disposed of incorrectly to reduce the environmental impact of plastics.
The Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Bulgaria is running an awareness campaign aimed at reminding users of tobacco products to dispose of cigarette butts correctly after use in a dedicated place, investor reports.
The campaign runs in November and December 2023 via radio and social media. The company said that according to an EU study, an average of three out of ten tobacco product filter puffs are disposed of incorrectly.
The campaign, reportedly called "Will you tell me?" campaign, carried out by JTI Bulgaria, is an attempt to enforce Article 23 of the regulation to reduce the environmental impact of certain plastic products.
Márton PaTAKI, the manager of JTI Bulgaria, commented that we do not need accurate statistics to be responsible for our environment. It takes very little effort to dispose of cigarette butts correctly, but the results are immediate.
