Wimbledon council in the UK votes to support a ban on disposable vapes
The Wimbledon council in the UK has unanimously voted to support a ban on disposable e-cigarettes. Councillor David Chambers stated that the marketing of e-cigarettes targeting children by manufacturers and distributors is harmful.
According to Ludlowadvertiser, the Wimbledon council voted unanimously to support a ban on disposable e-cigarettes.
During the full council meeting on November 9, the councillors supported the view of the Local Government Association (LGA) that disposable e-cigarettes should be banned before 2024.
Councillor David Chambers, who is the chair of the Children and Families Review and Oversight Committee, has long advocated for this ban.
He told the councillors, "In recent years, the number of smokers across all age groups has decreased due to warnings on packaging. However, e-cigarettes have become a part of daily life, and it is clear that manufacturers and distributors are unabashedly promoting tobacco, using bright colors to attract children."
He expressed great satisfaction that all county councillors support the call for a ban.
