The fire occurred because the man connected the device to a charger, placed it on the bed, and then went into the shower. The e-cigarette battery exploded, igniting the bedding immediately. When the man left the bathroom, the bed was already on fire.

According to the local emergency department, there were no casualties from the incident, and the fire was contained to about two square meters.
