UK shop fined GBP 2,400 for selling illegal vapes to minors
The operator of a UK discount store, “Bargain Land,” was found guilty of selling illegal disposable vapes and selling them to children, and was ordered to pay a total of GBP 2,400 in fines and compensation.
According to a Nov. 8 report from Sthelensstar, the operator of the UK discount store “Bargain Land” was convicted for selling illegal disposable vapes to minors and was ordered to pay a total of GBP 2,400 in fines and compensation. At the same time, company director Mugshood Dudhwala was ordered to pay GBP 860.
The local Trading Standards authority launched an investigation after parents reported that their children had bought vapes from the town-centre shop. It is illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to buy nicotine-containing products; however, a 16-year-old volunteer was able to purchase a disposable vape from the store.
Notably, the vape contained five times the nicotine level permitted under UK vaping standards.
