Multiple Texas Cities Update Vaping Regulations as Dallas May Follow

Several cities in Texas have already banned the use of e-cigarettes in public places, and a citizen committee in Dallas has recommended that authorities follow the lead of other major cities in the state that have implemented this measure, meaning that e-cigarette use may soon be prohibited in public areas of the city.

According to a report from Elmanana on November 7, several cities in Texas have already banned the use of e-cigarettes in public places, and a citizen committee in Dallas has suggested that authorities emulate this measure already in place in other major cities in the state, which could lead to a ban on e-cigarette use in public areas of the city. 

This move is intended to protect public health and avoid the potential harm of e-cigarette vapor to vulnerable groups. 

Previously, Austin and Houston in Texas had already banned the use of e-cigarettes in public places. 

In 2017, the Austin City Council approved amendments to an ordinance passed in 2005 that restricted smoking in public places such as parks, bars, and restaurants, extending the ban to city buildings and workplaces; in 2022, the Houston City Council decided to prohibit e-cigarette use in indoor public places or workplaces, within 25 feet of building entrances or exits, in outdoor stadiums, and at public transportation stops, including any other aerosol devices. 

Despite the strict regulations and bans on e-cigarettes and their use in many cities, the sale and use of e-cigarettes continue to grow in Texas, with the market primarily targeting teenagers for promotion and advertising.
