Ohio Revises Law to Ban Vaping in Indoor Public Places
Ohio has updated the Ohio Smoke-Free Workplace Act to ban the use of e-cigarettes in indoor public places.
Recently, according to Morningjournal, Ohio has announced that it has revised the Ohio Smoke-Free Workplace Act, which now includes e-cigarettes. This law, effective since 2007, was originally intended to provide protection against secondhand smoke in indoor public places, but did not cover e-cigarettes at that time.
In September 2021, the Ohio legislature passed legislation to include e-cigarettes in this law. This means that no one will be allowed to use e-cigarettes in indoor public places, including businesses, restaurants, and bars.
Mark Adams, the Lorain County Public Health Commissioner, stated in a news release: “The Lorain County Public Health Department remains committed to helping nicotine users implement smoking cessation programs.”
Since the regulatory rules have been reviewed and updated, the Ohio Department of Health is taking several measures to educate Ohio businesses about the updates to the law. This includes a statewide paid media campaign and guidance for businesses to support nicotine users.
