PMI appoints Victoria Harker to board of directors

Philip Morris International (PMI) has appointed Victoria Harker to its board of directors, effective January 1, 2024.

According to a September 18 report by Tobacco Reporter, Philip Morris International (PMI) has appointed Victoria Harker to its board of directors, effective January 1, 2024. 

Harker is an experienced chief financial officer at U.S.-listed companies, having served in that role at three different companies and led major corporate transformation efforts for more than 25 years across the consumer goods, industrial, and utilities sectors. She is a highly motivated, action-oriented executive with strong strategic vision, most recently serving as executive vice president and chief financial officer of global media and digital communications company TEGNA Inc., a position effective through December 31, 2023. 

Prior to that, she served as executive vice president, chief financial officer, and president of global business services at global power company The AES Corporation. She has also served as a non-executive board member of two complex U.S.-listed companies, Huntington Ingalls Industries and Xylem Inc., beginning from the time of their respective spin-offs. Harker also serves as chair of the audit committee at Huntington Ingalls Industries and chair of the compensation committee at Xylem Inc. She is also vice chair of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, a board member of the University of Virginia Medical System, and previously served on the University of Virginia Board of Visitors.

 PMI Executive Chairman André Calantzopoulos praised Harker’s appointment and said in a statement: “We are very pleased to welcome Victoria to the PMI Board. Her extensive financial and business experience will further strengthen and enrich our Board’s capabilities as we successfully guide our company toward a smoke-free future and beyond.”
