Germany Imported Nearly EUR 1 Billion in Vaping Products in 2022, with Italy as Its Top Source Count

In 2022, Germany reported imports of e-cigarettes worth €995,132,619 (imported at CIF price, the same below), approximately €995 million or $1.065 billion. The total weight of imported e-cigarettes was 10,700,316 kilograms, about 10,700 tons; the average price of imported e-cigarettes was €89.26/kg ($95.71/kg).

According to data from Eurostat, in 2022, Germany reported imports of e-cigarettes worth €995,132,619 (imported at CIF price, the same below), approximately €995 million or $1.065 billion. The total weight of imported e-cigarettes was 10,700,316 kilograms, about 10,700 tons; the average price of imported e-cigarettes was €89.26/kg ($95.71/kg).

In 2022, Germany exported e-cigarettes worth €469,959,740 (exported at FOB price, the same below), approximately €470 million or $504 million; the total weight of exported e-cigarettes was 5,722,761 kilograms, about 5,723 tons; the average price of exported e-cigarettes was €82.12/kg ($88.06/kg).

Germany's net imports (import value - export value, ignoring the impact of CIF and FOB price differences) of e-cigarettes were €485,172,879, approximately €485 million or $520 million, with a total weight of 4,977,555 kilograms, about 4,978 tons.

According to data disclosed by the General Administration of Customs of China, in 2022, China exported approximately $1.939 billion worth of e-cigarettes to the 27 EU countries, totaling 24,900 tons, of which direct exports to Germany amounted to $619 million, 6,153 tons, accounting for 31.92% and 24.71%, respectively.

According to data disclosed by Eurostat, in 2022, Germany directly imported e-cigarettes worth €591,711,111 (approximately $635 million) and 5,165,002 kilograms from China.

Two Supremes analyzed the main importing and exporting countries of e-cigarettes in Germany, and the data shows that China, Malaysia, and Vietnam are the top three importing countries; Italy, Portugal, and the Czech Republic are the top three exporting countries. China remains the primary source of e-cigarettes for Germany, but the total from second-place Malaysia has exceeded that of all other countries combined.
