Queensland's latest smoke-free and vape-free zone policy takes effect today

The latest smoke-free and vape-free zone policy officially took effect today in Queensland, Australia.
According to 9news on September 1, the latest smoke-free and vape-free zone policy officially took effect today in Queensland, Australia. The expanded no-smoking areas include outdoor markets, dining venues, school parking lots, and any areas near recreational activities for those under 18 years old.
The Queensland Health Department posted on Facebook: “While our state has the strictest tobacco laws in the world, smoking remains a significant factor in death and disease.”
It is illegal to use non-prescription e-cigarettes in Queensland. The smoke-free zones were established following the federal government's crackdown on e-cigarettes in May, which proposed a complete ban on the import of non-prescription e-cigarettes. Starting July 1, 2024, this smoke-free restriction will extend to bars and clubs.
