Owensboro, U.S., to Include Vaping in Smoking Ban by Year-End

In Owensboro, Kentucky, the city commissioners are reviewing the city's smoking ban, which will be amended by the end of this year to include electronic cigarettes.

According to U.S. media 14News on August 25, the city commissioners of Owensboro are looking to include electronic cigarettes in the smoking ban.

Commissioner Bob Glenn stated that when they drafted the initial ordinance in 2014, there was not much research on the impact of electronic cigarettes. Now, with the increase in electronic cigarette use, especially among the youth in the community, adjustments are necessary.

Glenn noted that many private businesses and venues in the city have already banned vaping and smoking. The city commissioners will hold two more meetings before passing the new ordinance. The amendment is expected to be made by the end of this year.
