How should you choose an e-cigarette atomizer? How should beginners choose an e-cigarette atomizer? The atomizer is an important component of an e-cigarette, but there are many types and even more brands on the market, making it hard to know how to choose. Below, China E-cigarette News explains it for you.

Like e-liquid, e-cigarette atomizers are also consumable products. Atomizers are evolving quickly, and each one may offer a different taste experience and appearance. Choosing a good e-cigarette atomizer is therefore very important.

E-cigarette atomizers are generally divided into four categories: RBA (prebuilt coil atomizers), RDA (dripping atomizers), RTA (tank-style DIY atomizers), and RDTA (rebuildable dripping tank atomizers).

RBA prebuilt coil atomizers

Prebuilt coil atomizers do not require the user to build coils manually. Once you get one, you can fill it with e-liquid and use it right away, making it simple and convenient. In regular use, you generally only need to replace the internal coil head later on. Prebuilt coil atomizers can also be rebuilt manually, but the difficulty is relatively high. The downside is that older prebuilt atomizers generally had average flavor and didn’t produce much vapor, and replacement coil heads can be expensive.

So if you’re a beginner or not particularly hands-on, a prebuilt coil atomizer is your first choice.

RTA (DIY atomizers)

As the name suggests, DIY atomizers require users to build coils manually. They are suitable for people with some hands-on ability who are pursuing the ultimate flavor experience. However, the downside is that they are more troublesome to use. Users need to make their own coil heads with resistance wire, cotton, and other wicking materials. Product consistency is also relatively poor—different users, different wires, and different cotton can all produce different results, even with the same atomizer.

RDA (dripping atomizers)

Dripping atomizers generally do not come with a tank, although some models now do. They are suitable for users pursuing extreme vapor production. When paired with a mechanical mod, they can break free from ordinary limitations. In general, dripping atomizers are more for “playing” with than for everyday use.

In addition to being inconvenient to use and inconsistent in performance, the biggest drawback of dripping atomizers is their very limited e-liquid capacity, which means you need to drip e-liquid frequently. So they are not really a cigarette replacement product, but more like a hobbyist toy.

RDTA (rebuildable dripping tank atomizers)

An automatic dripping atomizer adds a tank section at the bottom of the atomizer based on the RDA design.

The upper half is essentially an RDA (dripping atomizer). Cotton passes from the coil in the RDA down into the bottom tank, feeding e-liquid through the cotton to achieve automatic dripping. This reduces the hassle of manual dripping while still letting you enjoy the performance of a dripping atomizer.

After looking at the atomizers above, do you now know which type of atomizer you should choose?
