Saint Laurent's newly appointed designer Anthony Vaccarello presents his debut collection, which pays homage to Yves Saint Laurent's 1982 collection. The SAINT LAURENT 2017 Spring/Summer women's fashion show took place on September 28, 2016, at 39, rue de Bellechasse, on the Left Bank of Paris. The Abbaye de Penthemont, established in 1671 and renovated in the 18th century, is a building that has witnessed numerous historical turning points. Originally a Cistercian monastery, it was transformed into an imperial barracks and royal guard after the French Revolution, serving as the office of the French national military department until 2014. This 10,000㎡ complex is currently undergoing renovation and is set to be completed in the first quarter of 2018, becoming the headquarters and showroom for Saint Laurent.

The SAINT LAURENT 2017 Spring/Summer women's collection, designed by Anthony Vaccarello, is a tribute to the classic style of Mr. Saint Laurent. Photos of Paloma Picasso captured the fashion style and lifestyle of the 1940s, which inspired Mr. Saint Laurent to design the "Scandal" collection in 1972, although it was not recognized or accepted by society at the time. Now, Anthony Vaccarello incorporates this fashion attitude into modern trends, drawing design inspiration from 1980s culture to create a unique clothing style.

2017 S/S collection opened with leather mini skirts, highlighting leather as the main theme of the show. The puffed bubble sleeves and deep V-necklines showcase a rebellious sensuality. Surprisingly, Anthony Vaccarello's designs are not limited; he combines sheer fabrics, lace, and leather to create new types of mini skirts. The lightweight, transparent upper body is made of sheer fabric or patterned lace, while the leather starts from the waist to form the hem. Some looks expose the shoulders, while the even or irregular hem cuts further display the bold and fearless female image of this season.

In addition to using such leather materials, dark golden metallic threads and velvet fabrics shine in the dark runway, with naturally cinched waists creating pleats that outline a perfect bust shape. Interestingly, the designer has placed his detail surprises on the heels of high-heeled shoes, with this year's runway shoes featuring the YSL English product name arranged vertically.
