In recent years, health consumption upgrades have become one of the areas of high social attention. Among them, the e-cigarette industry has shown rapid growth in health consumption, attracting unprecedented attention from all sectors of society. As one of the first investment institutions to focus on the e-cigarette industry, Tongchuang Weiye invited industry experts and investors closely monitoring the e-cigarette sector to hold a "E-Cigarette Industry Seminar" at its Shenzhen headquarters on October 19, 2018.
This seminar invited nearly 20 representative companies from various segments of the e-cigarette industry chain, including Huabao Group (a leading domestic flavor and fragrance company), Micwell (a leading domestic e-cigarette device manufacturer), and Gippro (the smart health e-cigarette brand Longwu), as well as dozens of potential investors in the e-cigarette industry, to gather and share discussions on the market situation of e-cigarettes, the future development trends of the e-cigarette industry, and to fully explore the investment highlights of this sector.
The theme speakers at this seminar included Wu Li, Deputy Director of Tianfeng Securities Research Institute, Luo Jing, Vice President of Huabao International, Qiu Lingyun, Director of Micwell, Qiu Shuang, CEO of Lvxinfeng (a well-known listed company joint venture in the e-cigarette sector), and Liang Ming, CEO of Gippro (the smart health e-cigarette brand Longwu).
Zheng Weihua, Chairman of Tongchuang Weiye, first delivered a speech to welcome the arrival of industry experts.
The chief analyst of emerging industries, Wu Li, Deputy Director of Tianfeng Securities Research Institute, gave a thematic presentation titled "Looking at the Present and Future of New Tobacco from the Perspective of Capital Markets."
The summary of the presentation is as follows:
Global Situation: In 2017, in the global (excluding China) tobacco market, Philip Morris International, British American Tobacco, Japan Tobacco, and Imperial Brands were the four major tobacco giants, accounting for 67% of the global tobacco market. Under the influence of strengthened tobacco control and increased health awareness, new harm-reduction products are growing rapidly and have become a key research and promotion direction for major tobacco companies.
Domestic Situation: Shenzhen is the largest e-cigarette base, with excellent companies like Micwell. Currently, there is a lack of marketing and channels for e-cigarettes in China, and the introduction of clear policies may change the current situation. E-cigarettes have an impact on domestic tax revenue and may be subject to strict regulation by the national tobacco system, which could affect business operations.
Outlook for New Tobacco: The Japanese market has already emerged, and India, the United States, and China will become the largest markets. IQOS is expected to pass the FDA review in the United States, marking the official arrival of the new tobacco era and initiating an accelerated development phase. Once the domestic new tobacco market opens, the scale is expected to reach 200 billion yuan, with industry leaders likely reaching a market value of 50 billion yuan.
Luo Jing, Vice President of Huabao International, Wang Biyu, Investment Director of Huabao Flavors, Qiu Lingyun, Director of Micwell, Qiu Shuang, CEO of Lvxinfeng, and Liang Ming, CEO of Gippro, as special guests, respectively gave thematic speeches on their respective fields of expertise and the industry information they are familiar with.
Subsequently, all attending guests engaged in in-depth discussions on the current development status, future trends, and market prospects of the e-cigarette industry, covering the following themes:
Opportunities and collaborations in the three major categories of devices, pods, and e-liquids;
Comparison of products containing nicotine, nicotine salts, and nicotine-free products;
Market predictions for HNB and vaping products;
Future paths for independent e-cigarette brands and OEM companies;
Future policies and regulatory trends in the domestic e-cigarette industry.
