Solutions for E-Liquid Spitback in Vaping

Spitback is a common issue many people encounter when using vaping devices. Under what conditions does it occur? In fact, spitback is often less related to the atomizer structure itself and more often caused by a few typical factors. Cotton is a major one
Spitback is a common issue encountered by many during the use of vaping devices. Under what circumstances does spitback occur?

In fact, spitback is not significantly related to the structure of the atomizer; it usually occurs under the following circumstances:

Cotton

A large part of spitback issues are related to cotton. We may have made the coils perfectly, but why does spitback still occur during use? It could be because we used too little cotton when wicking. Even if we fill the coils, cotton has a degree of shrinkage. After the cotton is saturated with e-liquid, it becomes thinner and may not fill the coils completely, leading to uneven heating and spitback.

Power

Spitback is inherently related to power. For example, if we use a low-resistance coil of 0.5Ω, it can vaporize properly at around 30W, but if we use 20W or 15W, the insufficient power leads to slower heating, and the e-liquid cannot vaporize quickly enough, resulting in spitback. Conversely, using too high a power can also cause spitback.

Temperature Control

Spitback can also easily occur with temperature control. This is unavoidable because temperature control requires an instant increase in temperature, which can lead to spitback. Additionally, using Ni200 wire in temperature control is more prone to spitback compared to tightly wound wire.

E-Liquid

The VG and PG ratio in e-liquid, such as 5VG:5PG, 6VG:4PG, etc., can also affect spitback. A common ratio that leads to spitback is 4VG:6PG, which is often used in Malaysian e-liquids. This means that if the e-liquid is not viscous enough, spitback can occur. However, if you use good Malaysian e-liquids, you won't experience this issue; it’s just that sometimes spitback can be related to your e-liquid ratio.

Fancy Heating Wires

Why do fancy heating wires tend to cause spitback? Simply put, because fancy heating wires require more material than regular heating wires for the same resistance. Therefore, the power we use for regular heating wires may not be sufficient for Clapton wires, leading to spitback. This can be resolved by adjusting the power upwards.
