Why Were E-Cigarettes Banned From Online Sales Across the Internet?

Why were e-cigarettes banned from online sales across the internet? When e-cigarettes first entered the market, they were promoted as novel, healthier, lower in nicotine, and capable of helping people quit traditional cigarettes. However, many tests later
What could lead to a nationwide ban on e-cigarettes? When e-cigarettes were first introduced, they were marketed as "novel," "healthy," "low in nicotine content," and a means to quit traditional smoking.

However, after extensive testing, e-cigarettes have been found to be not so "healthy."

Consider the following news:

On November 8, the CDC in the U.S. released a statement indicating that the nationwide outbreak of lung injuries associated with e-cigarettes may be linked to vitamin E acetate. They extracted this substance from the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid samples of all 29 lung injury patients, but the CDC also stated that other pathogenic factors cannot be ruled out. Vitamin E acetate is commonly used as an additive in tetrahydrocannabinol and other e-cigarette products.

Teenagers are easily addicted and may become a gateway to traditional smoking: The Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health, which advocates for tobacco control policies, claims that e-cigarettes may "reshape smoking behavior and become a gateway for teenagers to start smoking." The organization stated that among those who have tried e-cigarettes in Hong Kong, 37% are aged between 15 and 29.

A survey on youth smoking in the U.S. showed that in 2013, over 260,000 teenagers tried e-cigarettes for the first time, more than three times the number in 2011. After trying e-cigarettes in 2013, 49.3% of teenagers intended to switch to traditional cigarettes, compared to only 21.5% in 2011 who had the same intention after trying e-cigarettes.

E-cigarettes have also frequently made the "hot search" lists.

Therefore, if you are a smoker or a long-time smoker looking to quit, you can try e-cigarettes as an aid, but ultimately it relies on personal willpower to persist in not returning to traditional cigarettes. Once the nicotine addiction is overcome, e-cigarettes should also be discarded, perhaps replaced with snacks or fruits to maintain the effort.

If you have never smoked or are not addicted to tobacco, there is absolutely no need to try e-cigarettes, let alone develop a habit of using them.

For parents, it is essential to treat the issue of teenagers using e-cigarettes to follow trends with caution. Currently, e-cigarettes can be purchased freely on domestic e-commerce platforms, online shopping sites, and e-cigarette stores, with no restrictions on sales to minors. Compared to traditional cigarettes, which are sold in specialized stores, banned online, and prohibited for minors, e-cigarettes pose a greater potential harm to teenagers.
