India's recent decision to ban e-cigarettes has sparked a rush to purchase them.
Recently, the Indian government issued a decree prohibiting the production, manufacturing, import, export, transportation, sale, distribution, storage, and advertising of e-cigarettes.
A shop owner, who wished to remain anonymous, told The Hindu: "After the announcement, customers wanted to stock up. When we closed the store, thousands of people called wanting to buy e-cigarettes or liquid cartridges."
The Indian E-Cigarette Association is exploring legal avenues to contest this decision, stating that the government seems more concerned with protecting the combustible cigarette industry than with consumer health.
