On February 4, news broke that RELX, the largest electronic cigarette brand in China, is suspected to be launching an entry-level pod product. Relevant information has already circulated among agents. This series of pods is called RELX Soft Mist Pods and has already been listed in the agent's backend.
 
According to industry media reports, this pod comes in a pack of three and is priced at RMB 60. Relevant information indicates that there are currently three flavors: tobacco, fruit, and mint, compatible with the Phantom and Infinity vape pens.

It is speculated that this series of pods should use cotton cores.

This move by RELX will have a significant impact on the domestic electronic cigarette market.

Since last year, the domestic electronic cigarette market has seen competition from low-priced entry-level products. YOOZ was the first to launch a 9.9 RMB vape pen, compatible with its pods. Later, several manufacturers launched low-priced vape pen and pod replacement kits, sparking discussions in the industry.

However, unlike the low-priced strategies adopted by the aforementioned manufacturers, RELX is directly launching low-priced pods, which are 40% cheaper than the normal selling price of 33 RMB per pod. This is undoubtedly a boon for regular electronic cigarette users.

With lower prices, the user base may grow, and it can also solve the issue of RELX's popular pods being out of stock.

RELX's low-priced pod strategy may also impact the domestic compatible pod market. Pods priced at 20 RMB each will significantly compress the space for counterfeit compatible products, especially since these are official products.
