According to media reports, Taiwan may ban the use of vaping products in the second half of 2021.
 
It is reported that the Taipei City Government's health department has drafted an amendment to the Tobacco Hazard Prevention Act.
 
The proposed amendment prohibits the manufacture, import, sale, supply, display, and advertising of vaping devices and new tobacco products.
 
Violators will face fines ranging from NT$10,000 (approximately US$351) to NT$50,000.
 
Taiwan's health authorities have stated that e-cigarettes represent a new health hazard, with cases abroad involving e-cigarettes containing amphetamines, cannabis, and other drugs.
 
Health authorities have also expressed concerns about the risk of explosions from vaping devices.
