Virus Hits Vape Manufacturers Hard
As coronavirus disrupted Chinese factories, U.S. vape manufacturers and importers warned of possible supply shortages lasting months, raising concerns among vapers about product availability.
Due to the coronavirus hitting Chinese factories, American vapers are worried about e-cigarette shortages.
U.S. e-cigarette manufacturers and importers are warning that stores may face months of shortages due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. Although the disease has now been found in multiple countries, it first emerged in China, where the vast majority of cases remain. Unfortunately for vapers, the vast majority of e-cigarette hardware also comes from China—this disease, combined with government efforts to control its spread, is disrupting manufacturing and exports.
Starting in late January, China implemented lockdowns in dozens of cities, forcing factories to close for two weeks. These restrictions are now being eased, but local authorities in many areas are still enforcing their own lockdown measures. Even those businesses that have resumed operations often struggle to get their goods delivered to distributors.
Scott Alwine, manager of wholesaler VapeBeast, stated that importers expect shortages of coils and other hardware to begin in late February due to insufficient existing inventory, and this situation could last until March or even April.
