Cause of Vaping Death Cases Found—It’s a Substance People Encounter Daily

U.S. health agencies reported 2,051 lung injury cases and 39 deaths linked to vaping by Nov. 5. Early CDC findings pointed to a substance commonly encountered in daily life as a likely cause.
According to foreign media reports, as of November 5, the United States has found 2051 cases of lung injury caused by the use of e-cigarettes, of which 39 people have died. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have begun a full-scale investigation into the incident.

On the 8th, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released preliminary investigation results, saying that the amount added to the liquid of e-cigarettesVitamin E acetate, is the chief culprit in causing fatal lung disease.

Researchers at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention detected all of the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid samples from 29 lung injury patients from 10 statesVitamin E acetate

Vitamin E acetate is an oily substance thatVitamin E acetate is also commonly used in health products and body washesIt can be taken orally or externally and usually does not cause harm to the human body. However, if inhaled into the lungs, it will stick to the lungs, causing impairment of lung function.Has been considered a chemical of concern by the CDC”

Investigators believe the substance has been added to cigarette products as a thickener, and is particularly attractive to people making illegal products because it is similar to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) oil, which is the thing in marijuana that makes people feel high.

Among all samples,Without exception, the researchers found vitamin E acetate.THC was found in 82% of lung fluid samples and nicotine was found in 62% of the samples, indicating that the vast majority of patients are using THC products and that many patients are also using products containing both nicotine and THC.

Anne Shushat, an official of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said in a media conference call that day thatThis is a breakthrough made by the agency in its investigation of the cause of e-cigarettes.But more testing is needed, and the available evidence cannot rule out the existence of other factors that cause lung disease.
