First, the IQOS ILUMA Prime and IQOS ILUMA are referred to as the flip-top and side-push models in China, while in Japan, the former is called the flagship version and the latter the standard version. There is no difference in usage between them.

Both models use the same heating stick, but the appearance of the charging case differs. The ILUMA Prime's charging case has a flip-top design with interchangeable canvas covers, allowing you to change colors freely. All other functions are identical, including the web interface (the previous Bluetooth app has been removed) that allows you to control device parameters.

You may wonder about the differences between IQOS ILUMA and IQOS 3 DUO?

The main differences can be summarized in seven aspects:
ILUMA

1. Visibly, the new model is slightly larger than the old model.

2. The flavor is purer because there are no heating plates; the heating elements in the tobacco sticks do not contain any other impurities, and the heating stick itself does not have the previous tar, resulting in a better flavor.

3. No cleaning is required. Without heating plates, the tobacco leaves are designed to be in the middle of the stick, eliminating residue, and the heating stick remains clean, saying goodbye to unpleasant odors.

4. Inserting the tobacco stick automatically heats it. This feature can be disabled by logging into the official Japanese website and connecting the device via Bluetooth.

5. By clicking the heating stick twice, you can check the remaining number of sticks; one vibration indicates 25% remaining, two vibrations indicate 25% to 50%, three vibrations indicate 50% to 70%, and four vibrations indicate 75% to 100%. Personally, I find this feature somewhat unnecessary!

6. There is no heating stick cap, so you no longer have to worry about losing the cap or breaking the heating element when covering it.

7. The failure rate is reduced. Without heating plates and caps, and with the tobacco leaves designed in the middle, there is no tar penetration, leading to a lower failure rate!
