Belgian Health Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Frank Vandenbroucke has called on EU member states to ban the sale of vaping products across Europe, hoping to close the single market to prevent the vaping industry and its products from entering. Vandenbroucke made the remarks at the Health Council in Luxembourg, where the agenda also included discussion of measures to prevent the use and consumption of alcohol, tobacco, and other tobacco products.

“The European Commission has already developed an ambitious anti-cancer agenda,” Vandenbroucke said. “We believe it is also important to include e-cigarettes and vaping in this campaign. The current situation is worrying: the vaping industry is getting a new generation of young people addicted to nicotine by selling e-cigarettes in all kinds of flavors. These e-cigarettes may appear healthy, but in fact they are dangerous and highly addictive.”
