Yesterday (March 18), the Bangkok Metropolitan Police investigation unit raided warehouses in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand, seizing more than 260,000 e-cigarettes worth over THB130 million (US$3.9 million). Investigators believe the e-cigarette products were smuggled in from China through Laem Chabang Port in Chonburi Province and sold to more than 100 retail stores nationwide.

Police said the operation, named “Operation Smoke,” targeted six warehouses in the province linked to five individuals responsible for transporting and distributing the products. Police said two men were arrested, adding that the suspects were allegedly paid THB20,000 (US$600) each to guard one of the warehouses.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, while inspecting the scene, said: “This was a major raid with great significance. Police will expand the investigation, track down the masterminds, and bring them to justice.”
