According to The Irish Times, the Irish government is working toward imposing a tax on vaping products in 2025.

Finance Minister Michael McGrath confirmed that his department has begun working with the tax authorities to announce the tax in the next budget and introduce it next year.
McGrath cited the vaping industry’s “insidious” targeting of young people as a reason for the tax.
“No question, but this is a carefully considered policy,” he said. “In my view, when you see all the appealing flavors and names, it is absolutely targeted at young people, and very successfully so.”
McGrath acknowledged that vaping is helping some smokers quit more harmful combustible cigarettes, but he also pointed out that there are still many unknowns about the long-term effects of vaping.
He said it is important that the tax proposed by the Department of Finance remains aligned with policies being developed by other departments, such as the Department of Health and the Department of the Environment, on vaping products and e-cigarettes.
