Ukraine plans to implement an e-cigarette tracking system and align tobacco taxes with the EU

Ukraine plans to increase tax revenue by aligning tobacco consumption taxes with those of the EU. The new strategy will be implemented starting in 2024 and will last until 2029. The government expects this move to generate additional revenue equivalent to 1.5% to 2.2% of the country's GDP.
Additionally, Ukraine plans to implement an electronic tracking system for tobacco products and e-cigarettes. This initiative is one of the structural milestones in the cooperation plan between the Ukrainian government and the International Monetary Fund.
