Australia to ban all domestic production and sales of e-cigarettes by the end of 2024

Key point: Australia to ban domestic manufacturing and sales

Following the ban on imported vapes, Australia’s next phase of reforms is expected to take effect by the end of 2024, banning the retail sale of all types of vape products, regardless of their claimed nicotine content.

It will also prohibit the manufacture, supply, advertising, and commercialization of any vape unless it is for medical use.

These changes will require amendments to the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 and may be submitted to the federal parliament for consideration in the fall of 2024, although the exact date has not yet been determined.
