The UK may introduce new vaping laws in 2024
Another new law the UK may introduce next year is aimed at preventing children from using e-cigarettes. The government hopes to introduce the Tobacco and Vapes Bill early in the new year to place restrictions on the sale of e-cigarettes to children.
Vape flavors and product descriptions will be restricted to ensure they are not specifically targeted at children. Other proposed measures include restrictions on the sale of disposable vapes and regulations on where vaping products can be sold.
The government also wants to curb smoking and create a so-called "smoke-free generation." Under the new measures, the legal age for purchasing tobacco products would increase year by year to prevent younger generations from smoking.
By creating a "smoke-free" generation, smoking rates among people aged 14 to 30 could fall to nearly zero by 2040.
The bill is expected to begin progressing into law soon. The government is currently consulting on these proposals.
