Konya, Turkey: Anti-smuggling operation seizes large quantities of illegal e-cigarettes, 9 detained
Special agents from the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Department of the Ili Province Police arrested two suspects who were found selling smuggled mobile phones on social media during a raid on a business located in the Karatay central district.
The team from the Ereğli Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Department also conducted raids on five businesses suspected of selling smuggled tobacco.
During the searches, they seized 320,600 blank cigarette rolls with counterfeit tax stamps, 22,500 cigarette papers, 2,230 packaged cigarettes, 296 bottles of e-cigarette liquid, 50 e-cigarettes, 25 kilograms of shisha tobacco, 16 kilograms of shredded tobacco, a tobacco rolling machine, and a compressor, and arrested five suspects.
At a checkpoint in the same area, a suspicious vehicle was found to contain 30 handgun parts and one unlicensed handgun during a search, leading to the arrest of two suspects.
It is reported that a total of nine suspects were detained during these operations, and legal proceedings have been initiated against them.
