A woman in the UK nearly caused a major accident when her vaping device suddenly exploded while she

21-year-old Kirsten Church suffered an explosion and sparks when replacing the vaping device battery.

The vaping device exploded several times, scorching the floor, burning her wrist, and setting fire to a box containing her daughter’s Christmas presents.

Kirsten, a full-time mother from Lifton, Devon, said: “When I put the battery in, it started sparking and I knew what was going to happen. So I threw it up into the air. It exploded in mid-air right next to me. I had to protect my face. It was really loud. It was going ‘bang! bang! bang!’ on the floor.”

Kirsten ran downstairs, where her daughter Summer Church and her mother Louise Church were watching TV. She called the fire brigade. Kirsten and her family were told to leave the house immediately and wait outside for firefighters to arrive.

Meanwhile, Kirsten’s partner Cameron Buckle ran upstairs and emptied the burning box, saving all of the presents.

He then threw the still-burning box into the bathtub to stop the fire from spreading.
Kirsten said: “He said the flames were as high as his waist, and he could see orange firelight flickering on the walls. If it hadn’t been for Cameron’s bravery, all the presents would have been destroyed. He really did save Christmas.

“Even if they hadn’t burned, the firefighters would have sprayed the whole room and they would have been ruined anyway.”

The fire also ignited a gift bag containing a birthday present for Kirsten’s mother, and the bag was completely destroyed.

Thankfully, Kirsten was not seriously injured, and the fire had not spread by the time the fire brigade arrived.

She added: “She should have been in bed by then—thank God she wasn’t.
