Turkey’s E-cigarette Ban Fails to Stop Youth Vaping
Despite various bans and measures implemented in Turkey, the sale and use of e-cigarettes remain prevalent among young people and children.
The legal sale of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products is not permitted, but regulations are insufficient to prevent their sale in the market. Due to lax regulation, various e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products can be sold openly and delivered to homes. Additionally, advertisements related to e-cigarettes are widely circulated on the internet.
Finance Minister and Minister of Domestic Trade Mehmet Mu? stated that despite strict regulations, e-cigarettes are still very popular in Turkey, especially among young people. He said, "Despite our strict regulations, we have still made significant progress at customs. In the past month, we seized 256,000 units of e-cigarettes, and a week later, we seized another 125,000 units of e-cigarettes."
