Singapore HSA Raids Choa Chu Kang Home, Seizes Products Worth S$17,000
In Singapore, a 36-year-old man was arrested for allegedly selling e-cigarettes on Telegram. The statutory board also seized illegal products worth more than S$17,000 from the man’s home.
The announcement was made following an operation conducted on December 12 at Block 7 Choa Chu Kang Avenue.
Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA) said it received feedback about e-cigarettes being sold near Choa Chu Kang Avenue 7 and subsequently raided the 36-year-old man’s residence.
During the search, HSA officers seized more than 1,000 e-cigarettes and related components worth over S$17,000. The products were confiscated, and the man is currently assisting HSA with its investigation.
HSA reminded the public that it is illegal to import, distribute, sell, or offer for sale e-cigarettes and their components.
Individuals convicted of a first offense face a fine of up to S$10,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both.
For repeat offenders, the penalties are doubled: a maximum fine of S$20,000, up to 12 months’ imprisonment, or both.
The purchase, use, and possession of electronic vaporisers are also prohibited, with a maximum fine of S$2,000.
