Russia’s Economic Development Ministry Supports Raising E-Cigarette Import Tariff From 0% to 5%

The Russian Ministry of Economic Development (MED) told TASS that the Russian government's subcommittee on customs and tariff regulation supports raising the import tariff on e-cigarettes from 0% to 5%, and the proposal will be submitted to the Eurasian Economic Commission.

According to a Dec. 13 report by Russian news agency TASS, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development (MED) said that the Russian government's subcommittee on customs and tariff regulation supports raising the import tariff on e-cigarettes from 0% to 5%, and the proposal will be submitted to the Eurasian Economic Commission.

 The report said: “The Russian Ministry of Finance supports the proposal to raise the import tariff on reusable e-cigarettes from 0% to 5%. The decision is intended to balance the import tariffs on these products and disposable electronic devices.”

The Ministry of Economic Development noted that the Audit Chamber of the Russian Federation had previously made a similar recommendation, adding: “The proposal will also soon be sent to the Eurasian Economic Commission for further review.”
