Surge in Smokers Seeking Cessation Help in Russia’s Primorsky Krai; vaping device and hookah Users I

The number of people seeking smoking cessation help in the Primorsky Krai region of the Far East is steadily increasing each year.

According to RIA VladNews, the number of people seeking smoking cessation help in Russia's Primorsky Krai has been on the rise. From the beginning of 2023 to now, 922 individuals have sought assistance from the region's narcological dispensary, including 138 women and 35 minors.

Medical personnel further clarified that among patients with nicotine addiction, not only traditional cigarette users are present, but the number of users of e-cigarettes and hookahs is also increasing.

Director Arkady Yuhimenko stated, "In recent years, the growth trend in smoking rates has begun to slow down; however, the consumption of other nicotine-containing products, such as e-cigarettes, heated tobacco products, hookahs, and smokeless tobacco products, is on the rise, and their health hazards are no different from smoking."

The director added that the county's narcology outpatient clinic offers free programs for treating nicotine addiction, developing individualized treatment plans for patients.
